Ooooops! I was typing something...

After a annoying mishap while using Safari, I am going to make certain that Universe is truly smart. This is not to call Safari dumb (it is my favorite browser, and, in my opinion the best), but most browsers do not think like humans.

So, to explain my mishap. I was typing in a comment to a blog. This was a pretty involved comment. I had other tabs open to do some research and check up on facts. Well, while another tab was open I was moving to click for the tab that my comment was in (it was inactive). I moved the mouse to far while clicking (instead of just moving the mouse and pausing over where I wanted to click I kind of moved the mouse and started clicking when i got to about the place I wanted to be). Instead of clicking the title to change tabs I accidentally clicked the close button. Ooooops. I lost what I was just editing. :(

This is a common occurrence. For some reason the browser just does not know how important the contents of a tab might be. So, one of my goals, is to ask the user if he/she wants to close the tab if it appears that some editing may be taking place. This is also one of the reasons why Universe does not let you close a background tab (apart from the fact that adding a close button to every background tab would take up valuable real estate).

FYI.. I've posted an article on your browser at www.MobileRead.com.

I was quite excited when I realized what you have here and that we are on the verge (I hope) of the Universe 3 release!

Best wishes to you with Universe, and with the new business venture that will go with it!

I'm really looking forward to the release of Universe 3.0 and hope that the planned support for Netscape plug-ins might be extended to include support for the display of content (i.e. streaming video and audio) within the page and support for the object tag?

Streaming video will be a bit difficult as the PalmOS does not do "easy multithreading" (i.e. I have to write my own multithreading stuff). I don't have any details on plugins yet, since I am still trying to figure out a method that will work for the PalmOS. Sadly, the Netscape API system may not be the right solution. I am going to try to make it as close to the Netscape method as possible.

To add, on the other hand, things like embedded audio will be real simple, especially with pTunes.

Opera has a great solution to this.
deleted tabs go in trash. Press ctl+alt+z to recover the last tab you closed
(or look in the trash icon)

Are you in FF? If you're in FF, just right-click the tab bar and select undo close tab.
